What is Waiting for Godot about?
When Samuel Beckett's play exploded into the theatre scene in Paris over 60 years ago, it shocked as many people as it delighted. There had never been a play like it; indeed it was said that: "(Beckett) has achieved a theoretical impossibility - a play in which nothing happens, that yet keeps audiences glued to their seats. The premise is simple enough... two tramps wait on a bench for an enigmatic figure. The complexity arises through both the dialogue and setting - a world where time, place and memory are blurred and meaning is where you find it.
